Neighbourhood Support Nelson aims to make our homes, streets, neighbourhoods and communities feel safe and build a positive community spirit
Nelson / Tasman
Neighbourhood Support Nelson creates safe and friendly neighbourhoods by helping people join or set up Neighbourhood Support groups.
The groups enable people to feel safer, be connected with their neighbours, and feel be better prepared for natural disasters and emergencies.
We have a network of 400 groups, which we
support by providing resources and information and learning and training opportunities.
We also provide advice on safety and neighbourhood issues and liaise on people's behalf with other agencies such as Police, Civil Defence, Nelson City Council and community organisations.
Our services are free of charge and we rely on donations, grants and sponsorship to operate.
