O'Neill School of Irish Dance

Help our Dancers get to Dublin for the World Irish Dance Championships 2017

Canterbury

Dancers at the O'Neill School of Irish Dance are a dedicated and committed group of children from 4 years up. The dancers are passionate and along with their parents sacrifice time and money to compete in this sport.

Although the competitions are intense the dancers delight in catching up with old friends, creating new friendships, dancing alongside team mates and bettering their dancing.

Our teachers are the best! We have four teachers that are amazing. Three work full time and one is mum of a young son. They teach up to 6 days per week for the love of the dance and their dancers.

Parents are also a big part of the dance school. They do everything for the children and always will. Taking their children to practices up to 5 x times a week, fundraising, organising competitions and more.

This year O'Neill School of Irish Dance have set themselves a goal to put Christchurch, New Zealand on the World Irish Dancing Map. In 2017, our intention is to take teams of dancers to compete at the World Championship in Dublin, Ireland and we need help to achieve this.

More about us

The O'Neill School Of Irish Dance was founded in 1988 by Sean and Cathy O'Neill both of whom were successful competitive dancers before taking up teaching.

They have been joined by teachers Lynley Bowler and Tammie Cookson to teach dancers from beginners (which can start at 4 years) through to adults.
