Environmental Education for Resource Sustainability Trust

Paper4trees rewards schools and preschools nationwide for recycling their paper and cardboard by giving them native trees to plant.

Bay of Plenty

Getting schools and preschools to reduce the amount of paper and cardboard sent to landfill by giving them the resources needed to start recycling paper and cardboard or to increase recycling rates. EERST then rewards them for their efforts with native trees. This means the schools and preschools are saving landfill space and reducing carbon emissions nationwide.

Between 2001 & 2015, Paper4trees schools and preschools have saved 403,000 cubic metres of landfill space, recycled over 50,000 tonnes of paper and cardboard, planted over 200,000 native plants and reduced the amount of carbon produced in landfills by over 272,000 tonnes. Results for 2016 efforts are still coming in.
