Picton Dawn Chorus - Rewilding Kaipūpū Sanctuary and beyond
Marlborough
Picton Dawn Chorus is a community led conservation project working to protect and enhance our native plants and animals whilst protecting Kaipūpū Sanctuary - a pest free mainland island in Picton Harbour.
We are well supported with 262 members, 170 active volunteers providing 11,000 hours per annum.
In 2023 we won the Cawthron Marlborough Environment Award for Community Innovation
Your donation will allow us to:
- Maintain predator free status on Kaipūpū Sanctuary
- Increase biodiversity by targeting weeds and planting natives
- Protect our birdlife through pest eradication
- Continue to engage our community in conservation
- Provide an environmental education experience to schools
Your donation will help us to
- maintain our current network of over 2,200 traps
- buy traps, trap boxes and lure (we do not use any toxins) to expand our network.
- buy other equipment (monitoring equipment, tools, comms etc)
- employ staff to execute our operational plan
and most importantly it will help us to restore the native birdlife together.
Thank you Nicholas - this is very generous of you and hugely appreciated..
