Piha Surf Life Saving Club has a significant role to play in the provision of Surf Live Saving Patrols at Piha Beach. The club rooms are the base for life saving operations, medical treatment, storage of equipment and lifeguard training.
There is a mix of both volunteer life guards as well as a paid regional life guard service which supports the work of the club over the school holidays. Overall, Piha Surf Live Saving Club provided over 5,000 volunteer patrolling hours during the 2014/15 season with interventions assisting people from throughout the Auckland Region, New Zealand and overseas.
