Piha SLSC

Piha Surf Life Saving Club Inc (Piha SLSC) was the first surf lifesaving club to be formed on one of the most rugged west coast beaches in

Auckland

Investing in the future of our youth and our community-Piha Junior Surf, Nippers and Tadpole programmes provide the opportunity for fun at the beach while increasing knowledge and awareness of the beach and surf safety. There is generally a natural progression for our youth from Tadpole/Nipper/Junior programmes to transition to Qualified Patrolling Piha Guards at the age of 14.

Last season Piha SLSC patrolled for 5,648 hours, made 37 rescues, assisted 75 people with first-aid, performed 9 searches, 1,225 preventative actions and 6,390 people preventatives. This is all done on a voluntary basis and does not reflect the true amount of hours required for physical and practical training to ensure a high level of performance.
