We're raising funds for our LiteClub programme, helping NZ sports clubs become more efficient with electricity, water and waste.
The LiteClub programme was launched in 2011 and since then our teams have visited over 1,480 sports clubs around NZ, freeing up over $8.3 million for sport.
During club visits, our teams implement on the spot changes, including changing inefficient light bulbs to LED, insulating hot water cylinders and pipes, installing water saving devices and putting up sorting at source bins to encourage correct recycling practices. Our Sustainability Advisers also take notes and write a report that is sent to the club after the visit with recommendations for more significant efficiency changes.
More about us
Litefoot is an award-winning charitable trust working between sport and the environment. Led by ten prominent New Zealand sportspeople; Michael Campbell, Brendon McCullum, Georgina Earl and Caroline Meyer (nee Evers-Swindell), Conrad Smith, Barbara Kendall, Daniel Kereopa, Marina Erakovic, Sarah Walker and Moss Burmester, our ambition is to inspire New Zealanders to be environmental champions using the spirit of sport - teamwork and competitiveness - as the foundation for doing so.
Our lead initiative is called LiteClub - it's a programme designed to help community sports clubs reduce their environmental impact, freeing up money in the process. LiteClub's objective is to drive a transformation of New Zealand’s community sports infrastructure – and the culture to match – so that this collective group is electricity independent, water neutral and zero waste by 2025.
Use of funds
We offer our service at completely no cost to sports clubs. Currently, the number of funding sources is declining. Additionally, we are limited with regards to which regions can be visited - many sports clubs fall outside our current funders' boundaries. With money raised on GiveALittle we would be able to visit clubs that have long signed up for our service, e.g. in Southland, Northland, Gisborne & parts of Canterbury.
