The Rule Foundation is a charity concerned with the welfare, wellbeing and health of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) New Zealanders.
We give funds to groups and individuals who provide support services or community activities for LGBTI people, or who undertake education and research on LGBTI issues.
To date, we've given over $300,000 for LGBTI projects the length and breadth of the country. We've funded areas as diverse as youth development initiatives, arts and culture activities, academic research, sporting events, oral histories, and more.
Some of the projects we've supported include the University of Auckland's School of Nursing to develop education resources for carers of rainbow elders, Gay Line Wellington, Auckland Women's Centre, Outline NZ Auckland, OutTakes film festivals, Schools Out, Mani Mitchell intersex advocate, PrideNZ.com, Asia Pacific Outgames, Gay and Lesbian Singers Auckland, Otago University Students Association Queer Support, QSA Support Network Aotearoa, and more.

Support for training in gay and lesbian aged care 10 April 2014
We're continuing our support of the development of training resources for staff working in residential care facilities for the elderly in New Zealand. Following the initial research and development of training resources during 2012-13, the Rule Foundation is now assisting with the dissemination of this vital information through healthcare networks to raise the visibility of the needs of elderly gay and lesbian community members in aged care facilities.
