Building confidence in communication and engaging in the community. Help us provide personalised learning opportunities throughout Taranaki.

Taranaki

We have new courses that we are offering the Taranaki community in 2018. Writing for a purpose, Verbal communication and Supporting your child's learning will be taught at our Whare ako in New Plymouth alongside our Road Code study courses and NCEA Levels 1 and 2. We also provide 1 on 1 tuition for various literacy and numeracy needs, including digital and financial literacy.

We want to offer these courses at other venues in Taranaki and funds will cover travel costs and resources to provide outreach services.

More about us

Taranaki Adult Literacy Services is a not for profit charitable organisation based in the CBD of New Plymouth, providing adult literacy and learning assistance at no cost to the student. Tutors are volunteers trained in Adult Literacy Tutoring. Learning is student centered, with all students attending tuition voluntarily and at a time that suits them. Students develop personal learning plans with goals that are relevant to their current and future needs and work with a tutor to achieve these goals. Both 1 to 1 tuition and small group classes are available depending on demand.

The need for our services are growing and we intend to extend our reach into the Taranaki community.
