Sustainability Food Health Education

Our aim is to empower all members of our community with skills to grow and cook their own food. We also endeavour to inspire, value and support young people to become resourceful and resilient adults.

Our educational programmes include:

-Kids Growing: teaching kids at 14 local primary schools life skills in growing & cooking healthy, fresh food.

-High School Horticulture: providing hands-on learning and horticulture work experience for 2 local high schools

-Seed to Table: a short course for local adults in backyard gardening & permaculture theory

-Weekend Workshops: day-long workshops in sustainable living skills

Funds raised will be used to support the Waitaki Community Gardens' educational programmes for local children and adults. We facilitate weekly activities at 14 local primary schools at no-cost to schools or students. Our short courses and workshops for adults are low-cost and highly subsidized. Donations will help offset the costs of staff, tools, educational materials, and garden resources.
