Welfare Guardians Canterbury volunteers assist people who lack capacity to make decisions about their personal care and welfare.
Canterbury
Too many people have no-one to care for them. Our trust recruits, trains and supports volunteers to help people who are unable to make their own health and welfare decisions – and who have no family or friends who can do this for them. Common reasons that a Welfare Guardian is appointed are because the person has dementia or long-term brain injury and there are no suitable local relatives or friends able to apply to become their Welfare Guardian.
Our waiting list is growing and we are turning to you to help sustain the trust. We have survived since 2019 with the help of a few kind people. Increased demand for our volunteers' services and reduced funding available are increasing the risk that we may not be able to continue.
That’s why we’re turning to you. We’ve launched this Give-A-Little page to ask for your help to keep going.
Welfare Guardians Canterbury is a registered charitable trust. We train and support volunteers to help people who are unable to make their own health and welfare decisions – and who have no family or friends who can do this for them.
