Wellington
The Wellington Somali Council was incorporated in November 2003 and has since then firmly established itself in Wellington as a provider of quality youth services. The activities of the WSC have primarily focused on the youth as they make up a large proportion of the community. The WSC won the Education and Youth Development category in the 2007 Wellington Airport community awards. The Council is looking at developing its social services with a community social worker and cross-cultural community worker. The Multi-ethnic Refugee Study Centre builds an important aspect of our services - providing support to refugee youth and their integration.
The Wellington Somali Council supports community integration and achievement. It provides services for people with refugee background and focuses on youth. Our vision is to establish a sustainable, caring and cohesive Somali community.
