Whare Hauora

Whare Hauora has created Mānawa - a smart home kit of four home sensors that measure the temperature and humidity of a room every 30 seconds.

Simply place sensors in each room you spend significant time in, along with a gateway unit that connects the sensors to form a network. This gateway gathers all the readings, compares them against World Health Organisation for healthy homes, and tells you if your room is going to make you sick.

**Did you know that when room humidity reaches over 60% it means mould is probably growing in your home and is releasing spores into the air which can trigger asthma and allergic reactions like coughing, sneezing and skin irritation?**

Whare Hauora works with community organisations to prioritise vulnerable whānau to ensure access to sensor kits. Our goal is to empower, educate and connect whānau so they are supported to create healthier homes. Within this kaupapa, we also advocate for better housing standards for Aotearoa and support initiatives for more affordable power and electricity costs for low-income whānau.
