Help a middle-aged unemployed person build her own tiny house ..
Auckland
Up to June 2020 I was employed as a graphic designer and illustrator for an Auckland advertising company. And then, as you know, the pandemic struck and this middle-aged, single woman, with no savings or investments, lost her job and is now living on the benefit.
While I'm extremely grateful for the financial support I get from the government, three quarters of my weekly income goes on rental. I've had to sell a share in my car (which I'm still paying off) and I have medical issues (fibromyalgia and depression) which require ongoing medication and doctor's visits.
So while this sounds like everybody's sob story, I'd like to think my story is a positive one. After I lost my job I enrolled in a free horticulture course and I've started growing flowers on a small piece of land belonging to friends. This is bringing me great joy and now I want to build a very tiny house on this land so that I can devote my time and energy to growing organic flowers and veggies and reduce my costs considerably while enjoying a peaceful rural, self-sustaining life.
I have to leave my current rental by the end of February 2021 and would dearly like to get this project underway as soon as possible.
Your support will be deeply appreciated.
The funds will be used to finance a tiny house trailer, a custom kitset shed which is going to be kitted out as a one room tiny house with solar power. Should there be any excess funds, they will go towards upgrading the interior and suitable appliances.
