I have the chance to be the first disabled dancer to attend Brent Street Dance Academy in Sydney – but I need your help!
International
WHAT I’M DOING:
Hi I’m Brylee, I’ve wanted to dance since I can remember. Despite losing my arm in a car accident when I was six, I’ve never let life stop me, ever! Now, after all these years of dancing and training, I’ve been accepted into the elite dance programme at Sydney’s prestigious Brent Street Performing Arts Academy. Now I just need to get there.
WHY I’M DOING IT:
As a dancer you don’t get many opportunities, so when they do come about you need to take them with both hands! Brent Street is one of the best schools in Australasia.
Going through a course at a school like this with its reputation will mean I have the best shot possible to dance professionally – my ultimate dream!
WHY I’M FUNDRAISING:
The thing about any kind of tertiary education is that it costs money. For me, as a New Zealander, there is no financial support in Australia so I’m starting from scratch.
I need money to fund my education and acquire the dance gear I’ll need. In the meantime, I’ll be finding a way to live as well!
WHAT YOUR DONATION WILL BE USED FOR:
$25,000 is enough to get me through the first 6 months.
I am also applying for several scholarships and grants, as well as working to save the money I need.
WHY YOU SHOULD SUPPORT ME:
Getting me to this prestigious dance school in Sydney not only helps me live my dreams, but also hopefully opens the door for other disabled dancers from across New Zealand and Australia.
I’ll make you a promise, if you support me I’ll work even harder to be the best dancer I can be – representing New Zealand and doing my best to ensure other teens have a shot in the future!
As someone who supports me and my dream (big or small) you will become a part of my journey.
You will get exclusive progress updates via email every month, giving you a front row seat to my career. I’ll let you know the highlights – and lowlights – and you’ll be the absolute first to know when I graduate so you can join in the celebration with me!
For any donations over $50, I will thank you personally on my Facebook page and send you a digital photo of me when I hit Brent Street – so you can be part of the experience from the beginning! You’ll also go in the draw to win one of 5 goodie bags organised and made by me – including a custom design t-shirt, movie tickets and some surprises.
If you donate over $1000, well, I’ll probably come over and hug you! (kidding) but thank you, every little bit counts.
When I was 6, I lost my arm in a car accident. Now I want to lead the way for disabled dancers to access high-performance dance education.
