Apprenticeship with the New Zealand Dance Company

    I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who supported my Spark campaign.

    We reached our target so I am now a full time apprentice with The New Zealand Dance Company!

    I can't express how grateful I am, but I can show it! I will be performing with The New Zealand Dance Company throughout New Zealand for the Rotunda 2015 Australasian Tour. I hope to see you all there! This weekend I will be doing more sign spinning for NZDC like you see in my video at the Mangawhai Surf Club. Come see me and I'll thank you in person!

  • Dancing in Beijing!

    Today is my first day as a 21 year old. What an amazing few weeks it been! I have dancing in Beijing (China!), performing Michael Parmenter's "Tenerezza" at the 60th Anniversary of the Beijing Dance Academy. (You might remember "Tenerezza" from NZDC’s Language of Living National Tour earlier this year, performed by Carl Tolentino and Justin Haiu). On top of that I have been back in studio seconding with The New Zealand Dance Company at Wellesley Studios working with choreographer Malia Johnston on a new work for 2015.

    I am really excited at the progress of this campaign and really keen for it to complete. I am so excited by the prospect of working with The New Zealand Dance Company next year. Thank you all for being behind me. I have less than 10k to raise so tell your friends, your workmates, your family about my campaign. With a few more pledges my 21st year promises to be awesome.

  • Dancing in WOW

    My WOW experience has been awesome, not what I was expecting at all. I thought I would have to come down and just be in the back ground performing real minimal movement but what we are doing is the exact opposite.

    We perform a variety of different things in the show which causes us as performers to shift our performance states all the time. Starts with real intensity in the "South Pacific" section; then you got some abstract slickness in "Open"; going into some simple gestures that develop into some real hardcore movement which I really enjoy in "Avant"; a bit of Bizarre humour with Bras in the "Bizzare Bra" section.

    The scale of difficulty in choreography differs dependent on what the section is and how the choreography can complement the garments.

    The biggest highlight of being involved in WOW is meeting all the other people, Dancers, Models and Stage crew. Everybody is so friendly, encouraging and supportive through this three week performance season that we are in now. WOW is such an awesome experience and I would love to do it again if I m successful with my campaign to dance with The New Zealand Dance Company.

  • I'm dancing

    I'm so grateful for the support that has come in for this campaign. And we're getting there. We have raised $24,000 of the $35,000 needed for this campaign to complete but I still need your help to spread the word.

    Thank you to everyone who has helped make my dreams get closer to becoming a reality. Now please tell your friends, your family, your work colleagues...every little bit that is donated makes a difference. Every little bit.

    So thank you for your support, for your belief in me and for your advocacy.

    My crew at Hip Hop Internationals got 12th in our semi final but I still feel like I won something this weekend. Cannot fathom the amazing support for my future and the vote of confidence you all have expressed.

    Can't wait to get back to Auckland and say thank you in person!

  • Hip Hop Internationals

    I am currently in Vegas (USA) competing in the Hip Hop Internationals with my crew Fresh Nation.

    We made it into semifinals and onto the big screen.

    The competition is fierce and we are holding our own. Props to my crew Fresh Nation and to all the other teams out here representing NZ.

    Thanks for all the support as I pursue this life. I'm hoping you can make my dream come alive.
