    Hey guys,

    I'm leaving NZ for the 2015 World Tour this Sunday. Can't wait.

    I would like to invite you all to my send off party this Saturday evening (from 6pm) at 8 Drake Street, Freemans Bay, Auckland (see poster for more details).

    I will also be at South Piha beach at 10am this Saturday watching the NZ Surfing Nationals and would love to meet some of ya in person if this suits you better.

    So stoked for your generous support.

    By this time you must have all known I got to where I wanted to be with the help of you all. I have qualified for the World Tour which has been a dream of mine since the age of 8. It has been a long process and I am so thankful for all of your guys support for the last leg of the journey.

    The support you guys gave me was uplifting. I am so excited for the year ahead and hope you will all follow my progress on the World Surf League World Championship Tour knowing that you each played a role in such a crucial step in my career. Now towards my next goal, top 10 in the world.

    Thankyou once again!!!

    Kia ora guys!!! I have literally just hopped off the last plane i will ride in for three weeks!! thank god!!! The Jetlag hasn’t dampened the smile on my face as i reminisce the past week!! I had the most fun I have had in a long time, and i was competing!!

    Maybe spending some time here in bali hunting tubes and glassy walls has put the smile back on my face. I have spent so many years training and grinding in knee high slop preparing for the wqs. i am over that now. If i qualify, I need to know how to surf the waves on tour and concentrating on that feels new and exciting!! I'm learning again!!! growing!!! and in a direction that feels right :)

    It has been my dream to be on the world tour since i was a little kid and i am starting to believe i can be there. man, that would be EPIC!!!! I am doing everything I can do to be in the best form possible but i am going to make sure I have fun during this experience!!! in and out of the water, every single minute, I want to be enjoying myself as I take in every experience this universe throws at me. if I'm having fun on land, I know I can have fun in my heats, no matter what the end result, life will be awesome!!!!

    Excited to throw the rashy back on in Portugal in a few weeks!!!! Some nice swell coming in the next few days so will flick you guys some "training" shots!!! hehe

  • Azores progress - our boy is on fire!

    Hey generous Spark My Potential supporters!!!!

    Ric is in event mode (and currently sleeping) so here is a quick update on his behalf.

    Ric is the man and absolutely on fire at the Azores Pro!!! He's taking names at the event YOU helped get him to.

    Overnight he charged through to the quarterfinals blasting past top-ranked

    Aussie, Matt Banting in the round of 16, setting up a massive showdown with defending champion, Tomas Hermes.

    Ric has already banked over 3000 ranking points at the Azores Pro and is on track to slot back into the all important top-ten qualification standings needed to qualify for the WCT in 2015.

    A quick summary of Ric’s progress to date at the Azores:

    Round of 96 – 13.46 (best 2 wave total out of 20) – 2nd

    Round of 48 – 13.20 – heat winner

    Round of 24 – 13.23 – heat winner

    Round of 16 – 14.00 – heat winner

  • TRAINING IN BALI!!!

    My Team!!!!! You are amazing :)

    So grateful for your belief in me. Man, this crowd funding process has really cemented in my brain that a little from a lot can really make a huge impact.

    Crowdfunding has been such an amazing thing to be a part of and I urge you all, if you have dreams of your own and need the support to get going, I strongly believe there is no better way than this!!! The connections I have made through crowd funding have been amazing and I feel so honoured and appreciative of receiving love from you all in the form of money towards my competitive dreams or your priceless messages of support.

    As my project is drawing to a close, I just want to Thank you all so much for securing my spot in the Azores Pro!! Only a couple weeks away now!!!! I have been been training my butt off in some not so desirable conditions, more accustomed to the WQS. My boards are feeling great and I'm sweating the extra winter fat off in the bali heat.

    God, I'm so excited and grateful to be going!!!!!!
