At 101, Audrey walks 101 laps to uplift Methven House – help our little town with a big heart keep caring for our elders!
Canterbury
UPDATE - As at 30th October we've raised a total of $117,780 including offline donations. Our goal was to raise at least $101,000 towards completion of Methven's new home. THANK YOU!!!!
Audrey is 101 years old — and she’s not slowing down. Born at Methven House in 1924, she now lives there again, full of spirit and purpose. Knowing time is short, Audrey and her friends are walking 101 laps of Methven House — one for every year of her life — to help raise the final funds needed to finish Methven Care Trust's, Methven Central Care Home for her beloved community.
“I’m hoping to move to the new address,” she says with a smile. “So let’s build its future together.”
The Methven Care Trust is proud to be developing a purpose-built care home facility, designed specifically for the Methven community — a place where our elderly can receive the care, dignity, and connection they deserve.
This new home will provide the same care, by the same staff at our much loved Methven House Rest Home, always delivered with compassion and professionalism. Residents will stay close to family and friends, maintaining the bonds that matter most — and they’ll do it right here in the beautiful Canterbury community we all know and love.
And now, your donation can go even further.
Thanks to Philip Wareing Ltd., Molloy Agriculture Ltd. and Jackson Holmes every dollar you give will be matched. That means your $50 becomes $100. Your $101 becomes $202. Double the impact. Double the care.
Audrey’s 101 Challenge is more than a walk. It’s a symbol of courage, community, and care. It’s a call to all of us — to donate, participate, sponsor laps, or start your own “101 Challenge.” Whether it’s 101 steps, 101 cupcakes sold, or $101 raised, every act adds up.
Together, let’s honour our elders and preserve the legacy Methven House has carried for over 50 years.
Because one day, we’ll all need a place like Methven House — full of warmth, dignity, and care.

Let’s finish this home of care — for Methven, for the future.
Audrey 101 and Beyond - Donor Update 23 October 2025
Thank you for your donation and for “walking the talk” alongside Audrey as she and her friends complete 101 laps to raise at least $101,000 to bring Methven Central Care Home, home.
We’re thrilled to share we’re so close to our goal! As at 23rd October, we’ve raised an incredible $93,350—$72,124 via GiveaLittle and $21,232 in cash and direct deposits. The momentum is still building, and we’re hopeful we’ll exceed our target.
Audrey has captured hearts across the country. Everywhere we go, people speak fondly of her—her kindness, curiosity, and how she always takes time to connect. Maybe that’s the real secret to her long life, alongside gallons of water, simple food and walking, of course!
Many special stories are pouring in. Just yesterday, five nine-year-old girls arrived at Methven House with $301.20 they’d raised selling baking, bookmarks and friendship bracelets.
Community groups like the Methven Vintage Car Club and the Scarecrow Trail have rallied behind Audrey 101. Our match funders—Molloy Agriculture, Jackson Holmes, Philip Wareing Ltd, and now Craige & Roz and Noeline & Alastair MacKenzie—have helped double donations up to $35,000.
This care home project has been over a decade in the making. Thanks to Audrey, and you, we’re in the home stretch. We know more funds are coming and we’re so grateful for your belief in continuing a legacy of care for our elders.
Thank you again!
The Audrey 101 Team
