PLATE UP SO THEY CAN SHOW UP
The cost of providing school uniforms can be overwhelming for many Canterbury families who are already surviving on very little. They have no spare money for school uniforms, stationery or even school bags — in fact, the reality is many of these parents can’t afford to put food in their child's lunch box, let alone cover basic uniform costs.
The Christchurch City Mission needs $300,000 to put shirts on backs, shoes on feet and books in bags for children whose parents can’t afford uniforms, stationery, and other basics throughout the school year.
Bayleys Canterbury, together with the Christchurch City Mission, wants every child in Canterbury to have all the tools they need for school. It’s as simple as that.
Bayleys Plate Up For A Purpose raises important money for this cause and it was a spectacular success this year. We are doing it again early next year – bringing together Canterbury’s top business leaders to take part. They will fundraise and compete in a public cooking event. Backing them will help give every child in Canterbury the education they need to succeed.
FROM THE HOT SEAT TO THE HOT PLATE
The Christchurch City Mission’s Back to School programme gives children of qualifying families the start in school they deserve to have on the same level as their classmates.
Bayleys Plate up for a Purpose takes business leaders out of their boardrooms and into their community to raise crucial funds for the Christchurch City Mission’s Back to School programme. The business leaders will use their creativity, connections, and competitive spirit to crowdfund.
Next, they’ll join forces with top Canterbury chefs in a memorable evening of fun, food, and fundraising at Christ’s College, Rolleston Ave, on 27th Feb 2021. They will put their reputations on the line when they put their dishes on the table.
