The Coastal Classic is NZ 's biggest open water yacht race.The race is from Devonport Wharf to Russell Wharf in the Bay of Islands, is New Zealand's premier fleet yacht race and has been held annually at Labour weekend since its inception in 1982.
Kites and smaller craft are able to enter officially as they do not meet the minimum requirements for open ocean water racing.
