FABruary stands for the Fight Against Bulge and is a month long commitment during February which was first launched by Clinton Toopi in 2015 in Australia.
Diabetes New Zealand is proud to partner with the launch of FABruary launch in New Zealand - a campaign designed to raise awareness of the obesity epidemic and the health related risks. With 1 in 4 New Zealanders estimated to have prediabetes, Diabetes New Zealand needs all New Zealanders to understand that a person’s risk of progressing from prediabetes to type 2 diabetes can be roughly halved if they lose weight, change their diet and increase their exercise .
The FABruary Ambassadors will sign up to make to make pledges in three main areas that contribute to obesity - FOOD, PHYSICAL ACTIVITY (lack of) and BEVERAGES and they are also committed to raising critical funds to help Diabetes New Zealand support the 257,000 people in New Zealand with diabetes.
