I will spend 7days climbing Mt Aspiring to raise Mental Health Awareness. Join me with your challenge and let's help Lifeline together.
Nationwide
I will be climbing Mt Aspiring…
3,033 meters, 7 days, snow, wind, sometimes 3am starts with 16-20 hour climbs. The list goes on and lots of training to be done as I am starting this challenge with no experience in mountaineering.
Why?
A year ago my best friend lost her brother to suicide. Another close friend lost her father. I experienced first hand what they went through and how unexpected it was for both families. In New Zealand, three families lose a loved one to suicide every 2 days (on average 550 people a year). So many Kiwis need help but often, in hard times, we tend to hide it.
My goal is…
To raise money for Lifeline and to increase Mental Health Awareness by encouraging people to take part in challenge that will keep them active (it can be any kind of challenge, individually created). Keeping active is one of the secrets to staying mentally healthy and positive. All together we will raise money for Lifeline Aotearoa.
Make your own challenge…Decide how you are going to challenge yourself and chase it with me.. The money you raise will also go to Lifeline Aotearoa.

Why Lifeline?
- Lifeline receives over 10,000 calls each month from people in distress.
- Unfortunately resources are stretched and at times they are unable to answer all of the received calls.
- On average, Lifeline helps 5 people a day who are at high risk of suicide
- Lifeline has over 200 volunteers who give their time to be there for people in distress
- Calls are answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Lifeline’s free, community helplines receive no government funding and therefore are reliant on public donations to operate.
