Loud Shirt Day encourages workplaces, schools & social groups across the country to put on their loudest shirts & outfits for deaf Kiwi kids
Nationwide
Every year Loud Shirt Day is on Friday 23rd September. Each year Loud Shirt Day has a different theme - and this year the theme is Fiesta - "ARRIBA!"
Loud Shirt Day is a good excuse to have a bit of fun at work and school. Have a Fiesta themed shared lunch, mufti day or after work drinks, and hold activities like best and worst dressed competitions, raffles and fashion parades - and collect donations to support deaf children to listen and speak.
Loud Shirt Day is the annual appeal of The Hearing House and the Southern Cochlear Implant Paediatric Programme, two charities dedicated to enabling deaf children with cochlear implant or hearing aids to listen and speak like their hearing peers. Neither charity charges deaf children or their families for their services. The Hearing House is based in Auckland and provides services to families living north of Turangi, and the Southern Cochlear Implant Programme is based in Christchurch and provides services to families in the rest of the country. Loud Shirt Day donations go to the region in which they were raised.
