Selwyn Sports Trust - Tour of Selwyn

$8,947 of $40,000 goal
8 Nov 2024

A charity bike ride across the length of Selwyn to raise funds for the Selwyn Sports Trust Activator Programme!

Canterbury

The Selwyn Sports Trust was established in 2013 with the primary vision of enhancing the health and wellbeing of all Selwyn residents.

Taking place on November 8, the Tour of Selwyn will take cyclists across the district, covering approximately 150kms and raising vital funds for its Activator Programme. The Selwyn Sports Trust Activator Programme supports 22 primary schools across Selwyn, ensuring quality access to physical activity for 7000+ tamariki. It does this by providing strategic support, teacher resources and by delivering physical activity sessions, empowering our schools to deliver enriching physical activity opportunities for their tamariki.

Funding is crucial for the success of the Activator Programme. As a not-for-profit charity, the Trust relies on donations, funding streams and sponsorships to support its delivery.

The introduction of the Tour of Selwyn is an event that not only delivers on the Trust’s vision to inspire the community to participate in active recreation, but allows the community to support a great local charity that focuses on positive physical activity culture within our invested schools and kura.

All profits from the Tour of Selwyn will directly support the Activator Programme in 2025! Going directly to creating greater access to physical activity for our tamariki!

This ride is not designed to be a race, but a bunch ride through the Selwyn District, taking riders from the Selwyn Foothills through to Tai Tapu. It will cover approximately 150km, broken into two legs of approximately 75km each, enabling those that find the full distance too daunting to enter as a team. Training rides to support preparation and bunch riding skills for the event will be provided.

Riders will be raising funds for the Activator Programme and can affiliate themselves with a participating Selwyn Primary School.

If you’re interested in being part of the Inaugural Tour of Selwyn, please complete the expression of interest form below. You’ll then be prompted to set up a Give a Little page to gather donations in support of your ride.

Thank you Donors! Winners of $3k!   6 November 2024

We’re beyond excited to announce that the The Tour of Selwyn - Ride for a Great Cause has received a generous $3,000 donation from our friends at Givealittle! 🎉

Givealittle has just reached an incredible milestone, helping Kiwis raise over $300 million for causes across New Zealand! To celebrate this achievement, they gave away $3,000 to three lucky charities. All we had to do to enter was have a donation on our page, and thanks to the amazing support of 60+ incredible donors who contributed to a rider on the Tour of Selwyn, we were in the draw! 🎉

We can hardly believe our luck, being selected as one of the winners! A huge thank you to Givealittle for this amazing opportunity. 🙏

This $3,000 will go directly into our Activator Programme, alongside the funds raised through the Tour. It will help us continue to support tamariki across Selwyn to access physical activity opportunities through our Activator Programme. 💪

We also want to send a BIG thank you to our donors! Without your support, the Tour would not be possible. Every single donation makes a difference, and we are so grateful to everyone who has contributed so far. 🌟

Thank you to each and every one of you! We couldn’t do this without you!
