Epilepsy New Zealand

Walk About It! Walk around Hamilton lake event

$0 raised
27 Nov 2016

Walk About It! is a event to raise funds and awareness for epilepsy and those who live with epilepsy and their family/whanau/friends

Waikato

The event I am wanting to promote is called Walk About It!, and it is part of our month-long campaign in November called Talk About It!, whose purpose is to encourage people to have conversations about epilepsy and mental health, to give voice to the struggles that so many people in NZ and worldwide live with (there are 47,000 people in NZ alone diagnosed with epilepsy each year, and more still that aren't diagnosed).

I am holding Walk About It! on the 27th of November to raise funds and awareness of epilepsy and the work that Epilepsy New Zealand does to improve the quality of life for those who live with epilepsy, their family/whanau, their friends and support networks.

It will start at 10am, and will consist of a lap around Hamilton Lake, starting at the Innes Common side of the lake, and will have a "purple everything" theme, seeing as Epilepsy NZ's colour is purple, and there will be spot prizes for best dressed etc, as well as a sausage sizzle and face painting.

Entry will be gold coin for families and children to register, and $20 for a team to register, with registration on the day. Thanks heaps for your help with this project, it could really make a lot of difference to a lot of people.

Epilepsy New Zealand's involvement (page creator)

I want to help be part of the movement for change in NZ when it comes to Epilepsy, so I am organising and running the event to promote awareness, because the more people know, the more that positive change can be made for people with epilepsy

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
