A fundraiser called Sugar Free September NZ which involves not eating refined sugar for the month of September. Sounds easy? Not for me.

Auckland

Hi there, My name's Jacinda and I am the founder of Sugar Free September NZ.

I came up with Sugar Free September where for this month you eat no refined sugar. Sounds easy? Not for me.

I love Whittaker's Chocolate Lovers and the baked goods section Farro Fresh. My family are behind me and so I thought I'd go for it.

I was wondering if anyone else wanted to join me on this challenge for a month.

So back in 2014 i put a post up on my local community page in Titirangi and was so happy that other locals decided to join me on this challenge.

This grew into a Facebook page and the start of this event Sugar Free September NZ.

This year 2016 I've had conversations with MP Jacinda Ardern and decided to support a NZ registered charity called Feed The Need.

Feed the Need offer a Winter Boost Programme provides hot, nutritious lunches to every child in our decile 1 & 2 primary schools, giving vulnerable children a lift during the colder months.

This winter they're delivering 68,000 lunches to 2,800 children in 6 primary schools in Manurewa and Takanini. Each child enjoys a winter boost lunch 2-3 times a week.

In October this year they're also starting a new programme called Feed The Whanau.

The programme will bring together young parents in our school communities to learn how to cook tasty, nutritious and affordable meals for their whanau.

So join us by making a difference to your own health by removing refined white sugar for 30days and also supporting another young NZ child or kiwi family to improving their health in the process.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
