A Charity Endurance group jetski ride to raise funds and awareness for Men's Mental Health

Bay of Plenty

I am passionate about connecting people to adventures and nature, through exploration on a jet-ski. I explore and film my adventures throughout New Zealand on my jet-ski, and am very keen to help share my journeys with others.

I have been through some mental health challenges and the topic is now something that is very important to me. I thought I would combine my love with my jet-ski adventures with my passion for supporting the cause of Men's Mental Health. Hence the creation of the inaugural THERAP-SKI event.

The idea for the event, is for a bunch of keen jet-ski riders to be sponsored, either by pledging an amount per KM ridden on the day, or just offering a lump sum in support of the cause. As an example, I will be pledging $1 per KM that I ride on the day. Another example is a friend of mine, simply donating $20 to the cause up front.

I wanted to ensure any funds we raise through Therapski, have a real and meaningful impact to the cause and the local community. The Rotorua Lakes are a special place to me and many. With this in mind, I am proud to announce that any funds we raise through the event - will go to a Rotorua initiative ‘GOTCHA BRO’. A collaboration between Tātai Ora & Save our Babies Charitable Trust. Gotcha Bro provides men with a safe, supportive space to show up as they area, without fear or rejection - to just be there for each other and korero. So please, if this is a meaningful cause to you too - please donate to the event, or sponsor one of the riders. We are literally making waves to break the stigma!

The event will be held on 23rd August at Lake Rotoiti. All the riders will ride as long as they can or desire, with the intent to raise those funds and awareness to the cause. I want to thank you for your support for the event and the cause, which again is very important to me personally. Thank you!
