Many of you will know that Aida, 12, is a keen and self-motivated writer and artist. Last year Aida submitted an amazing piece of creative writing to the National Future Problem Solving writing competition and was awarded first place in New Zealand by the judges. As a result, she has been asked to represent NZ at the International writing competition in June at Indiana University in the US, an amazing opportunity.
Future Problem is an international organisation who run a yearly writing and speaking competition to promote creative thinking and problem solving. This was the first time her school, Takapuna Normal Intermediate, have entered the competition, so it was an especially memorable day for us and her teacher to hear Aida’s name being called to the stage as winner at the National finals in November last year.
The competition takes place at Indiana University, ILlinois, USA from June 5th-9th 2024.
In order to attend and represent New Zealand and her school, Aida is aiming to fundraise $4500NZD, a big hill to climb! This amount covers registration, event accommodation on campus for her and a chaperone (either a teacher or parent) and Aida's return flights to Indianapolis.
Aida has started some home businesses to raise funds for her trip, (e.g. selling some of her art work). We are sending this to you to ask you to take part in a fundraising drive we have helped her put together.
