We volunteer in Ashrang village, Nepal each year, teaching and building. We need funds to help the people rebuild their homes and schools.

We are 2 retired Kiwi's from Ohope, Whakatane, who have gone each year for the past 4 years to assist in the village of Ashrang, in central Nepal with teaching English and building infrastructure. Since the recent earthquake, Ashrang village near the epicentre has been devastated. Many houses and schools have been damaged or destroyed. We will personally take these donations back to Nepal later in the year and use 100% of the money towards helping them rebuild their lives.
When we get there we will consult the village committee as to where best to utilise the funds. I would imagine that their priorities will range from repairing and rebuilding houses and shops to similar work in the schools. There has been much damage, and as we have been working there teaching and building we know how to be of practical use. We fund all of our expenses ourselves, so we are able to guarantee that 100% of any funds raised will be used in the village.
We are a husband and wife team; a retired teacher and builder/architect and have been regularly volunteering in Ashrang, Nepal over the last four years. We have been teaching English to Ashrang primary school children, we have created a library and have designed and been helping to build a new earthquake-proof school. We are teaching the local people how to build good quality buildings, so they can continue the work when we are not there. We have built some toilets and drinking fountains in the secondary school, and have helped get a water supply to the school. We had planned to return to continue this work later in the year.
Since the earthquake we are now in need of some funds to help with the rebuild of homes and schools in the Ashrang Villages.
