Our wee girl Saoirse was born on the 20th January. She had major heart surgery on Monday 25th at just 5 days old. She is recovering in intensive care and progressing well at this stage.

We would like to thank you all for your generosity, prayers and kind messages of support. It means so much to us. We will keep you updated on how she is doing.

Lots of love Phil and Hannah xx

    Dated 3-10-15

We met with cardiologists and specialists and they have told us what we can expect over the next few months/years.

Our little darlings heart is extremely complicated unlike anything they have seen before. We will go to Auckland at 37 weeks and wait until the baby comes, max 41 weeks. In the first week of life, they will operate to widen the very narrow valve and put a rubber band on to block off an artery so the baby will not get too much blood. Recovery time of around 3-4 weeks. Baby will be monitored over the following few months and then another surgery at age 4-5 months. They will decide after birth what will be the best operation as it will be extremely complicated to perform one of the surgeries. Depending on which way they go, surgery maybe required again at age 4-5. Then a heart transplant at age 30-40.

There is a chance the valve can get even narrower before birth, which will not be good! Also a very slight chance it can get wider, which is what we need! ??

But for now, we are just taking one day at a time ?? and crossing each bridge as we reach it. We are praying and believing for a miracle and whatever happens, I trust God as he has it all planned out! ??

In images you will see the comparison between a normal heart and baby girl Dohertys heart.
