We have so appreciated the support for this project, especially from the Maranatha Christian School in Lower Hutt who totally funded one of the classrooms.

As well as encouraging us with your support for the building project, you sent over school uniforms and other equipment for the school and wrote letters to the children.

You have done an awesome job and kept going with your fundraising for more than 2 years now. Well done!

The school now has 7 primary classrooms, 3 nursery classrooms, a new kitchen with fuel efficient stoves, new toilets and showers (with doors!), 6 staff accommodation rooms and an upgrade to the school office building. The video link was taken before the school was completed

So thank you so much for,

'WORKING TOGETHER TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE'.

Due to Covid, we now have a new challenge. Many of the students cannot afford the school fees and so are unable to continue with their education.

We have started a one year child sponsorship programme to support some of these children to return to school when the new school year starts in September.

If you would like to help please go to the Givealittle page called ‘David Tyler School Sponsorship – Uganda’

  • David Tyler School is now almost completed

      22 June 2020

Last December the builders began to build 7 classrooms and had almost finished when Covid-19 hit and Uganda entered lockdown. There were 18 builders at the school site who were unable to get home.

We made a decision to send more funding and complete more building work that would otherwise have happened over the next year or two.

They have almost completed the 3 nursery classrooms, 6 staff accomodation rooms, a kitchen with 4 fuel efficient stoves and 2 toilets and washrooms for the staff. We are also considering going ahead with 8 new toilets for the primary school.

  • Water Bore is now operational

      25 August 2019

Great to see that after a few months of struggles the water bore at the David Tyler School is now flowing with water.

The bore was being dug by hand to a depth of 78 feet or 24 metres when it hit a rock.

Drilling equipment was brought in at extra cost and the drill bit broke. It took weeks to have this fixed and for the drill to return. Finally the rock was penetrated and power installed to the school for the water pump and water is flowing.

The children and local community will no longer have to walk 2 kms to collect water. We are all so happy with this.
