Dukie and the King Family

Dukie King is a fun loving five-year-old from a large family in Mohaka – one of the most remote communities in New Zealand. When Dukie was only 22 months old, 75% of his body was burned in a car fire.

Dukie spent months in hospital and underwent numerous surgeries. He’ll continue to undergo surgery until he is 18 as his skin has lost its ability to stretch.

Dukie is a finalist in the Youth section for the “Attitude Live” awards. This is an organisation and event that celebrates and recognizes the achievements of people who live with disabilities(amongst other great things)

Dukie and the King family have completely touched our hearts and their story highlights what love and family can achieve when faced with a heart breaking challenge. (Watch the video of Dukie’s story)

We are asking for your help to get the amazing Dukie and his family up to Auckland in Dec to attend these awards, and while they are here give Dukie and his family a taste of the city and a whole lot of fun.
