Elizabeth’s Story

Elizabeth is a 15 year old who has lived on the North Shore for 6 years with her parents and 6 siblings. In October she complained of a sore knee and after a visit to the GP, and resulting hospital tests, it was found that she had bone cancer. After more tests it was found that it had spread to her lungs. Elizabeth has been in Middlemore, Starship and North Shore hospitals.

Her father is caretaker at St Leos School and is trying hard to support his family through this difficult time.

At the same time, in the same suburb, Karleen was discussing shaving her hair off this New Years Eve. They thought she was mad, but said they would sponsor her if she did it for a cause. Karleen learnt about Elizabeth and has decided to do what she can to support Elizabeth and her family during this difficult time. Everything Karleen earns from this sponsorship will go to Elizabeth and her family. On New Years Eve Nigel Russell, Trichologist at Servilles Takapuna and owner of Holistic Hair natural hair products, shaved Karleen's hair off.
