Donations to help Asia and her family
Bay of Plenty
Hi my name is Asia Floyd I am 8 years old. I live in Otakiri Whakatane. I love sports and am currently involved in the gymnastics, netball, swimming club, ripper rugby and multisport teams. I also love running which includes athletics, cross country, road and mountain running. I attend Otakiri school. I always aim for high grades at school, am very competitive in my sports and schoolwork and aim to be the best I can be. June 5th 2015 I was in the school running competition. I won our School cross country and I came 3rd this day at our inter School competition, that's me on the day in the picture above. Driving home from the running competition myself, two brothers, two sisters and my Mum were involved in a serious vehicle accident which resulted in two of my sisters being admitted to Whakatane Hospital with moderate injuries and were released four days later. My two brothers were flown to Waikato Hospital with head and multiple breaks, fractures and other injuries. My Mum was taken by ambulance to Waikato Hospital with left arm and elbow injuries which will put her out of action for quite a few weeks. I was flown to Waikato hospital and then flown to Starship hospital. Thanks to great doctors my family members that were in the accident are home safe and starting their rehabilitation process. my recovery will take longer than my other family members. My injures is a severe laceration on my left leg from my knee to my ankle. a shattered right ankle, fractures to my left arm, both my shoulders and my left collarbone are broken. The biggest injury I have sustained is a severe head injury. I had the front bone flap of my skull removed to take the pressure off my brain. I have multiple skull fractures as well. Throughout my treatment so far I have been sedated to allow my brain to rest and recover. My doctors stated that I will be sedated for up to 3 months and then intensive rehabilitation for up to 1 year initially possibly more. My hopes and aspirations are to be able to return myself to the same level of competitiveness with schooling and sports. Any donations would go towards my rehabilitation, travel and accommodation between Whakatane and Auckland.
Love from the Floyd family.
