New Elbow for Arthritis Suffering Dog. - New Goal - Only $3,500.
Wellington
Gabi is a 7yr old German Shepherd, for some time now she's had issues with her elbows. Recently her left elbow has gotten worse.
After spending $1000 on drugs, xrays & consultations, we've been referred to Massey University, where they originally looked to fuse her Elbow, putting a plate in her joint, taking away the pain, but stopping it from moving.
After the Vet contacted Massey, they were advised that they could now replace canine elbows, although more expensive, it meant a better quality of life. With this in mind, we're off to Massey on the 15th of April. If they like what they see, they will operate on the 16th.
The problem is that the cost of the operation will be thousands of dollars, but we won't know if anything is possible until the referral. What we're looking to do, is raise enough money to cover the operation, with any excess being split between Massey as a donation to further research & to the Wellington SPCA, for helping animals across wellington.
**Update** Estimate given by Massey is only $3500!! Way less than the Vet suggested it could be.
We're stoked at this news, but we're still a long way off with only a week to go.
I'm Gabi's owner, Currently forking out $20 a day on Pills. Our wee daughter Ginnifer loves Gabi & can't wait to see her when she gets home every day.
1 more day 14 April 2015
So this time tomorrow, I imagine we'll be on our way home from Massey. All things going well, Gabi will be admitted for surgery & we'll be 1 step closer to a happier family. I'm not sure what will happen to this page after tomorrow, but if anyone feels like donating, then sooner would be better.
Lots of love to everyone who's donated so far.
