Third time fighting Cancer - we want to help our Dad kick it for good and recover to full health.
Manawatu / Whanganui
Our dad was first diagnosed with bowel cancer at the age of 38 in 1999, after surgery followed by chemotherapy he was able to stay cancer free for 12 years. Then in 2012 a tumour was found and removed by surgery in 2013.
In September of last year after a routine scan the cancer had returned in the form of multiple tumours in the peritinium. He has seen several specialists in different hospitals who collectively have a plan in place to first go through chemotherapy with the aim to reduce the cancer enough to have further surgery.
Along with the chemotherapy dad is also having a course of Avistan, which is an inhibitor that increases the chances of reducing the growth of the cancer. Unfortunately Avistan is not government funded in New Zealand so it has to be administered at a private hopsital and comes at a cost which will be close to $50,000 by the end of treatment.
Mum and dad both continue to work hard but will be put under extreme financial pressure with this cost and the cost of having to travel to the different specialist appointments around the country.
We are thankful and appreciate any help that we can get to assist in making the road to recovery successful.
Help our Dad to full health and assisting in some way financially.
