We need your help to complete Bishop John's mission and enable 23 Rwandan university students to finish their education.

Canterbury

This givealittle page is to continue the work of Bishop John Osmers who was sponsoring 23 Rwandan university students living in Zambia. Bishop John passed away earlier this month and we need your help to complete his mission and enable these students to finish their education

Bishop John Osmers was a New Zealander working with refugees in Zambia. He has spent his life working for social justice in Southern and Central Africa. As part of this work he was sponsoring 23 young Rwandan students completing their university studies. These students are studying medicine, nursing, pharmacy, computer science, mathematics and actuarial science. Without this sponsorship it is unlikely that these young people will be able to complete their education. The only option would be to return to the refugee camp at Maheba and subsist as peasant farmers.

On the 16 of June 2021 Bishop John died of covid in Lusaka aged 86 years. The pension monies that he was using to support these students have now been cancelled when he died. We are raising money to help these students to complete their studies.
