Give a koha to help support the family of 4yr old Josef Winter who had open heart surgery on 13 March.
Wellington
4 year old Josef Winter has just had open heart surgery (13 March). Josef was born with serious heart issues and Starship Hospital has been his second home. Though much of the medical costs for Jo are covered, the costs to the Winter family of supporting a very sick child add up very quickly. All donations will go to the Winter family in the hope of covering some of those costs.
The Winter family, Jon, Rebekah and children Cassie, Greer, Jacob and Josef are a huge part of the Raumati Swimming Club (The Raptors). Cassie, Greer and Jacob all swim for the club and Jon is the Head Coach. Jon represented NZ at the Olympics and has coached at the top level for 20 years so he is very well known in the wider swimming community and beyond.
Rebekah is a teacher at Raumati South school. She only recently took up full-time work after years of relieving while she brought up her and Jon's four children.
This page has been set up so Raumati Raptors club members and the local community, The teaching community and the swimming community throughout New Zealand can show their support for the Winter family in this difficult time.
A set back 7 April 2015
After some time at home Joe developed a chest infection and after a few days in Wellington hospital was flown back to Starship in Auckland. He was responding well to antibiotics and seemed to be on the mend. Yesterday afternoon he crashed and at 9pm last night was moved to PICU, where he's now sedated and ventilated, waiting for his 3rd open heart surgery to replace his mitral valve, which they tried to repair. It is a devastating turn of events as Joe now has to start his recovery journey again.
