A team of local members of Howick Board have decided it was right time to bring much needed awareness and to raise funds for Mental Health
Howick, Auckland
A team of local members of the Howick Local Board have decided it was right time to bring much needed awareness and to raise funds for Mental Health and Wellbeing in our local Board area after the impact of Covid -19 and the statistic around suicide in New Zealand is just not good enough not to be proactive as a community. We feel this could be annual event to also influence other local boards to do the same so we are supporting a need in all communities. The current process for individuals to get support has many challenges and time constraints so the funds we raise will help people to get immediate help or bridge a gap until further for assistance is available.
Team4Life was set up over 10 years ago, effectively a page promoting health and wellbeing. It started off as a bike ride and now will be the umbrella for promoting our charity to raise awareness for this great cause in our community. Kiwi league legend Richie Barnett was instrumental in working in the community, as a mentor and a bloody good bloke have arranged a leap of faith. We all have fears, height is one of them so to overcome this fear we will be jumping off the Sky Tower as part of overcoming this. It sends a message out to young people regarding taking the first step and asking for help, we are living in an unusual world, you are not alone and there are people who care.
We would like to thank Bridget Rainsford and Kate Morris at Sky City for the use of the ultimate jump of faith.
We are working with registered counselors in Howick to help local people that need help right now and not have to go on a wait list. All applications/referrals are being reviewed by our team, including Richie Barnett.
