Help Nikki beat Lyme disease and M.E

M.E is classified by the WHO as a neuro-endocrine and immune disease with complications and symptoms as severe as cancer, MS, HIV/AIDS and motorneurone disease – yet treatment or the cause of M.E is not yet fully understood. She also recently got diagnosed with Neurological Lyme Disease and neuroborelliosis. This disease is caused by infections acquired from insects and the symptoms often overlap those of M.E (though you can have either illness without having the other).

Both diseases are potentially life threatening and/or permanently disabling without appropriate treatment. On top of the crippling immune and neurological symptoms, both cause severe cardiac complications in the most severe of cases. Nikki is in this category and urgently needs the right testing and treatment to halt the ongoing deterioration and to try to regain some form of life.

Nikki is completely housebound except for medical appointments, which are a struggle for her to get to, and she cannot even do the basics of daily living such as showering on a daily basis. Even the most minor exertion such as computer time or interacting on the phone or with visitors can trigger seizures and collapses and at worst she suffers prolonged speech loss and sometimes requires spoon feeding, too weak to feed herself during severe episodes.

The money raised is for her on going medical bills including: specialist fees, travel and accommodation whilst seeking specialist care (within nz at this stage but may require overseas treatment options too), further specialised testing to help guide the most effective course of treatment, weekly Intravenous therapies and a course of daily hyperbaric treatment (which has been shown to be effective for many suffering from these diseases, helping to destroy the systemic infections that riddle her body and organs including brain and heart, re oxygenate the oxygen-starved brain, heart and vital organs and help to reverse the neurological damage), ongoing medication costs

The treatment and recovery from lyme and m.e is complex, on going and expensive. Any support is gratefully appreciated
