Ōkaihau Whānau House

We are a group of local members of the community starting a charitable trust to obtain the land lease and use of the old Ōkaihau Play Centre. We will set up an early childhood play group and provide a space for educational workshops.

Sadly, the building has been vandalised since the Play Centre closed and it will need a lot of TLC before it can be reopened.

How can you help:

We’re asking the community to help because only together can we bring this wasted gem back to life.

- Donate - Funds are needed to help with repairs, insurance, building & property maintenance, etc. We’re grateful for even the smallest amount. You can only give $10? Thanks, we appreciate it!

- Volunteer (busy bee) - We will have busy bees to get the building and property cleaned up and ready to shine again.

- Volunteer (regular maintenance) - We will need people to help with mowing the lawn and keeping the property in shape, cleaning, painting, and more.

- Tradies - Are you willing to donate a bit of labour to help us get back up and running? We’re looking for builders, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, etc.

- Goods and material - We will need to replace furniture (cupboards, chairs, tables), kitchen (electrical devices, benchtop, pantry, utensils, etc), toys & learning material, and more. We also appreciate donations of gib, sand, timber, and other material.
