Shane's Myeloma cancer care. Help a great man who has always put others ahead of himself and enriched the lives of so many around him.
Auckland
Shane is 57 years old, married to Jennifer and together they have two incredible children, Thomas (15) and Amelia (13). He has been a friend to many around the world over the years and has forever put others first ahead of himself.
In 2019 Shane was diagnosed with multiple myeloma which is an incurable blood cancer. Over the last three years Shane has worked his way through a number of New Zealand publicly funded treatments and clinical trials including a stem cell transplant, but none of these have had a lasting effect on his cancer.
Recently the oncologists have advised that he has run out of publicly funded options here in New Zealand and without further expensive treatment his life expectancy is likely to be 3 to 6 months from here if left untreated.
The proposed treatment & drugs (daratumumab & venetoclax) are not funded in New Zealand and the detailed financial plan for this initial 12 month treatment is estimated at circa $360,000.00 NZD. The first and second month cycle alone amount to over 100k.
We have had some incredible support outside this platform that has allowed Shane to commence his treatment this week to keep the cancer cells at bay and it is our goal here to progressively raise at least the first 12 months treatment and hopefully beyond. If you'd prefer to donate direct to Shane rather than through the page contact us directly.
Our goal : fund the treatment so they can continue living their best life together now without selling up their future.
The money raised here will be used solely to pay for Shanes ongoing unfunded medical care over the next 12 months and beyond. The estimate provided by the the cancer care clinic for the next 12 months of treatment is $360,000.00 NZD
