Re building Lani's house and business after the fire
Auckland
On the 18th of March around 3 am a fire started in Lanis sleepout.
Evelyn, Lani's friend who was sleeping in one of the rooms, woke when the fire was small, ran outside and alarmed everyone. Before the fire brigade arrived, the house and garage were up in flames, taking everything inside with it.
Fortunately nobody was hurt.
The little house consisted of 2 rooms, a garage and porch. One of the rooms was a bedroom and the other was Lanis show room with all of her stock and creations from the last few years.
The belongings that were destroyed by the fire are as follows:
- All Lani's clothing inventory
- Some personal clothing
- Jewellery: stock for sale and personal pieces
- Clothing racks
- Gazeebo
- Tables
- Mannequins
- Knitting machine
- New mac book air lap top
- Large moroccan tent
- Small moroccan tent
- Moroccan carpets
- Cushions
- Beds
- Scooter
We are asking for donations to help cover the immediate costs of getting power and water re connected to the property.
Whether you can give a little or a lot, it is so appreciated and will help Lani and her 2 kids to re-build their home and Lani to re-build her business.
NB: We would like to warn people about the use of rags with linseed oil. They can combust and start fires such as this. They need to be disposed of properly, soaked in water and put in a place where they cannot start a fire if they do happen to combust.
