The Barefoot Walk for those who can't Talk
Walking away from Cafe to raise Awareness. I will keep on spreading the Conscious/Compassionate word. I will walk for the voiceless.

My name is Morgan Redfern-Hardisty and I was the owner/operator of Mangawhai’s first cafe container at my local community park. I created the business with a vision to offer the healthiest, most delicious and affordable goods to the people of Aotearoa. It was much more than just a cafe to me, it was my platform to engage with my community and empower the youth and old alike.
In July 2018 I launched a plant-based menu to reduce my impact on this Earth.
The support flooded in from the community, sales rose by 25% over 3 weeks.
After this initial success with a progressive/cruelty free/eco-friendly menu, I faced 2018’s most controversial ultimatum. To renew my contract for another year, I was required to lay down my morals and resume selling dairy products.
I must say going ‘backwards’ was never an option for me or the innocent animals or the toxifying environment.
The only way ‘forwards’ was to walk...
Walk the length of the country barefoot to raise awareness for the Power of Plant Based Living.
- Power to create a healthier population
- Power to create a sustainable environment (+ radically reduce water consumption)
- Power to eliminate animal cruelty
The journey begins October 25. I will be walking the length of New Zealand, 3000km, on the Te Araroa Trail.
And I will be doing it barefoot wherever practical and possible.

2000km reached! 4 February 2019
I have passed the 2000km mark on the te araroa trail. The barefoot walk has raised over $1600!!! Wow, could not be happier!
I am heading into Arthur's pass in the south island enrote for bluff. I have handed out 100's of plant based referrel cards since the start of the walk! The awareness is spreading one step at a time, one connection at a time, one seed at a time.
My feet are beaten and cut up but they are hardening. My spirits are high and I am motivated. Thank you too all who are supporting my cause! I, the animals and the planet are thankful and grateful for your generosity! Onwards and upwards we rise.
