All 6 cabins are now on site - the 5 cabins for the young people and a cabin plus an office cabin.

They have all been fitted out with curtains, blinds, carpet, a bed and bedding, shelving, a desk, two chairs and a heater.

We still need to cover some of these costs - please could you help?

The young poeple are in the process of being selected and there will be an official opeing and welcome into the Village early February after the landscaping is completed by volunteers.

  • $14,360 left to go

      11 September 2019

Generous people have paid for two more of the cabins which means 4 cabins are now paid for.

    One cabin to go.

We invite you to make a contribution to this worthwhile cause and help 'make a difference' to the lives of some young people.

  • Cabin # 1 arrived today - 10 September 2019

      11 September 2019

    What an exciting day!

Three years Wayne and Jennifer Poutoa, pastors of Carterton Baptist Church had the vision to create a village community to house 'at risk' youth. Today that vision became tangible with the arrival of the first cabin.

Andrew Procuta from 'The Village Cottage' company built the cabin and brought it from Napier to Carterton on a trailer. Just outside Eketahuna the car overheated bringing the journey to a stop. Kim from the Carterton Church went to the rescue. She drove to Eketahuna and the cabin arrived on site a couple of hours later.

It took around 3 hours for the cabin to be unloaded from the trailer and for the deck and veranda to be put in place. It looks so good with the contrast of the 'Pioneer Red' coloursteel and white trim. 'The Village Cottage' company have done a really great job.

The Dugdale Charitable Trust sends a thank you to everyone who has contributed to the start of this journey and we look forward to Cabin # 2 arriving in another 11 days.
