Please help us support the Rodger Whanau as our gorgeous Tia-Jayne fights as hard as she can against a rare, aggressive Cancer.
Bay of Plenty
Our gorgeous 'Earth Angel', Tia-Jayne, has been diagnosed with an aggressive, rare Cancer - Malignant Gastrointestinal Neuroectodermal Tumors (GNET).
Tia is now 20 years old and has been fighting this for several years now. In 2019, Tia underwent surgery to remove GNET tumors from her abdomen and this surgery was, at the time, successful. Unfortunately, surgery is not an option this time around.
Tia has a special way about her. Both beautiful inside and out, she has an admirable sense of freedom, never being afraid to be unique in everything she does. She cares deeply for all those close to her, and since her devastating diagnosis, has been more worried about the effect it is having on others, rather than herself. She is adored and deeply treasured by her family and friends, who cannot imagine a life without the light and laughter she brings to every occasion.
💕We believe Tia is the only person in NZ to have this type of cancer and less than 60 cases worldwide.
As there have only been a few cases worldwide, there is no tried and tested treatment plan for GNET.
The initial unfunded treatment of $13k every three weeks sadly did not work. Tia is currently undergoing Chemo (second type) which is now funded.
Her tumours have grown but we are desperately hoping this chemo at least holds it at bay for a long time.
This whanau are doing it tough but by joining forces, we stand a better chance to help Tia fight this, while giving her the opportunity to have her family with her when they need to be, and to have some great experiences when she is up to it.
We put out this plea of support for this incredibly gorgeous family, who have been hit with this life changing diagnosis. We want, and need, to ensure Tia is able to source everything she needs to enable the family to fight this. We therefore thank you for taking the time to read a brief description of their story. - Updated 14/2/2023
Hi, I'm Jen and I am a family friend of the Rodger Family💕.
Knowing we can't 'fix' this situation, but we can try and alleviate one of the stressors for the family, I have set up this page with their blessing.
The funds will be used for the cost of Tia-Jayne's treatment, expenses around treatment and any other requirements that arise in fighting this thing! Unused funds will be donated to a charity of Tia-Jayne's choice.
F**k You Cancer! 1 June 2023
This page has served a wonderful purpose, to give Tia as much time as we possibly could, whilst hoping like hell that something would work.
As Mum, Jo, said, we are going to "shoot straight from the hip". Tia's latest CT scan was not good. Tia's tumours have grown and chemo treatments were stopped a couple of weeks ago. There is nothing more they can do.
It's all extraordinarily sad, confusing, and surreal.
Tia has been asked what she wants, and her response is to hang with family and friends...and remain watching K pop wheneva she wants, of course! (Never been a materialistic girl).
Thank you to everyone who supports Tia and her family and please keep up those positive vibes for our girl.
Thank you all so much. The support and love is much appreciated!!
