Help my amazing brother tick off his bucket list. Troy is 19 years old, on 9th July 2014 was diagnosed with Stage 4 Rhabdomyosarcoma Cancer.
Nationwide
This is my amazing little brother Troy.
Troy is 19 years old. On 9th July 2014 after visiting the doctor the week previous for enlarging lymph nodes he received devastating news. He was diagnosed with stage four Rhabdomyosarcoma (Alveolar subtype). When this cancer does occur it is most commonly seen in children aged one to five years old and is even more rarely seen in teen ages 15 to 19. This is an aggressive type of cancer and when diagnosed had metastasized through his body.
The emotional and physical challenges are evolving and constant. Since diagnosis Troy has received eight intravenous cycles (unable to receive the 9th due to health) of V.A.C chemotherapy regimen. A month after completing chemotherapy we received the sad news the tumors are continuing to grow. As a cure is highly unlikely Troy has now began palliative care focusing on treating symptoms and pain. Recently after losing a lot of movement in his legs radiation began on a tumor that has damaged his spinal cord and a tumor in his hip.
As we accept the advancing difficulties Troy is still making the most of every day and would like to ‘make some more ticks off the bucket list’ he says and the next step would be a 13b turbo motor for his RX7. Troy also wanted me to say a huge thank you to everyone for the support (not just the donations) and especially Ben (Defwsh Drift) and Green brothers Richard and Chris for his dream ride and rides.

I asked Troy if he could give me his official bucket list, so if there were other ways people could help other than a cash donation they could. Apart from the 13b Turbo engine it hasn’t been that easy… What 19 year old has to think of what he would like to do or accomplish before he dies and in such a small time frame. Also as time gets on, some of these things may get harder to do.
It also has not been easy because we a constantly facing new problems. On the 25th February Troy was admitted to Hospital again after three days of being sick and sleeping. We weren’t to know he was hours off slipping into a coma from Hypercalcemia (high calcium levels in the blood) and an infection. Sadly two nurse visits weren’t able to pick up this common side-effect advanced cancer and was not caught early enough to prevent permeant damage done to Troy’s kidneys.
Troy in hoping to get out of hospital as soon as a plan for home care can be made. This is difficult as home is in Pongakawa, so hospital is 40 minutes away and a lot of funded services for nurses don’t reach that far or only cover so many visits.
Troy’s Bucket list has been added to his main page.
