Help Nvader fight to free the victims of sex trafficking, the fastest growing form of slavery, by sponsoring my two ultramarathon attempts.

Auckland

On November 14, 2015 I will attempt to run a 50km trail ultramarathon. On February 6, 2016 I will attempt to double my efforts and run a 100km trail ultramarathon. I am not an athlete, just an average guy in my late 40s who enjoys running in our beautiful countryside and who is heartbroken by the suffering of the women and children who have been stolen into slavery in the sex industry around the world.

Nvader (funded by TEAR Fund) is an organisation committed to freeing sex slaves and combating human trafficking. By giving to my ultramarathon challenge you help to fund their amazing work.

My 50km ultramarathon attempt is an organised event. You can find out about it here: http://www.taraweramarathon.co.nz

My 100km ultramarathon attempt is also an organised event and forms part of the Ultra Trail World Tour. You can find out about it here: http://www.taraweraultra.co.nz

Andrew Goldie's involvement (page creator)

When I run on New Zealand's beautiful beaches, forests, bush and mountains I celebrate freedom. For me, the freedom to move in the outdoors is a symbol of the freedom that most of us enjoy. Let's extend that celebration of freedom to reach out to fellow human beings who are not free, who are "owned", who are traumatised and abused daily.

The Race for Freedom  8 February 2016

Well, I completed the ultramarathon in tough conditions. Only about half the field managed to finish the full distance, but many amazing people opted for the 60km or 85km alternatives as the rain and mud sapped away their chance of making the cutoff.

The numbers:

7 : Pairs of running shoes I used for training

2,367 : Kilometres run during training

52,814 : Metres of elevation gain climbed during training

267 : Hours of running training (not including cross training)

350 : Volunteers on race day, running the event

1300 : Entrants in the 60, 85 and 100 km events

39 : Countries represented

102.8 : Kilometres I ran on race day

2,334 : Metres of elevation gain climbed on race day

18.5 : Hours taken for me to complete the course

7 : People in my support crew

99 billion : US dollars earned by sex trafficking criminals per year

2 million : Women and children enslaved in the sex industry every year

1 : Victim rescued out of 100

Please give generously in the few days left in this little campaign and share with your friends.
