I've signed up for IT Heavy Hitters and we are raising money for the Key To Life. TEAM BLUE!
Wellington
For the next 12 weeks, I'll be training to be selected to fight on May the 2nd but along the way, I'll be learning about myself, meeting some new people (fighters and trainers) and generally having a good time if good time can be categorised as "lots of physical activity, bugger all drinking and eating properly" (NOTE: Yeah, it can, trust me, I'm actually enjoying it...)
NOTE: All donations go to Key to Life - I don't see a cent of it but I'll get a warm fuzzy feeling every time somebody donates.
You can help the Key to Life spread their message - here's their five point plan:
1. AWARENESS: To create a greater awareness around suicide and mental health in New Zealand. This will be achieved through:
2. COMMUNITY PEER SUPPORT: The development of new suicide prevention policies as well as advancing existing structures and policies through effective research, awareness campaigns and changing negative societal attitudes to achieve a zero suicide rate in New Zealand.
3. EXPERTISE: The Key to Life Charitable Trust will communicate all work toward a zero suicide rate in a direct and honest manner to become a leading voice on suicide and mental health awareness. The goal is to become a well-respected and referenced resource for media and government.
4. EFFECTIVENESS: Strengthen the organisational capability of the Key to Life Charitable Trust through the engagement of volunteers and donors to ensure the long-term sustainability of the organisation and its mission.
5. EDUCATION: The Key to Life Charitable Trust is committed to educating citizens on the issues of suicide and mental health awareness.
