Strait Across - Charity Swim

Six swimmers will take part in the mixed relay attempt to swim Cook Strait. The plan is for each person to swim for an hour each in turn until hopefully the goal has been achieved. The swim will occur in the summer 2015, between February to April dependent on the tides and the weather. All participants are enthusiastic open water swimmers and for each this is a dream adventure. There have been approximately 400 attempts, with only 93 successful crossings, so we are realistic of our chances of getting across but hugely excited to have an opportunity to give it a crack. We are training hard and are up for the challenge. Regardless of success in the crossing, we are working hard to raise awareness and much needed funds for the the amazing people at Surf Life Saving NZ who keep us safe in the water.
